Jailee Rhyce Ottman was born on April 28th at 5:23pm. She weighed in at 8lbs 3 oz and 20.5 inches long. Mommy and Baby are doing great and should be home soon. The day went well, Jackie started getting induced around 10am and was feeling strong contractions by noon. By 1:30 she had the "wonder shot" and was feeling no pain. Around 2:30 they checked her and she was dialated at 8cm so it was getting close. By 4pm we were on our way. There were a few issues with Jailee's heart rate during contractions so they kept a close eye on her but she was fine. Her cord was around her neck so the doctor cut it as soon as her head popped out and from there everything went smoothe. I saw the whole thing and didn't pass out, only a little light headed when it was all over. Jackie did great!!!There will be more updates to come, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. The 4J's...
Well, we are off to try it again. We will be going to the hospital in the morning and this time we can't come home without a baby. Wish us luck.
The date and time has been set and we are ready to rock and roll. We will be going in on Wednesday at 7am to allow the miracle of modern science to do it's work. Yep, Jackie is going in to be induced. She is definitely ready to not be pregnant any more but as far as motherhood is concerned still a bit unsure. As for Dad, yeah I'm still freaking out. Jemma seams to be doing fine so far we'll see how she does with a crying baby in the house. We will be sure to update everyone as soon as "The Little Princess" makes her appearance. The J's
Easter has come and gone and still no baby. As you can see, the bunny ears purchased for Jailee's ride home were tried out on Jemma who isn't appreciative of our sick joke. We thought they looked cute, but she just sits as still as possible and stares until we take them off. Of course we sit and laugh the whole time.
In this picture, the joke is on us! A few days later Jemma decided to roll around in the mud. Mommy spotted her from the kitchen and came screaming around the corner only to find daddy standing at the back door watching her and laughing uncontrolably. Hmmmm,.....is this an omen of what's to come? Needless to say, Jemma was banned to the conservatory until she could be dried off and then given a bath. Today we are 7days overdue and have an appointment with Labor & Delivery. We aren't expecting to stay, but will take our bags just in case. All will depend on the number of dialation I am at. The rate so far has been one per week so we'll see what happens. We were told that they normally don't induce until 10days overdue, so we're expecting to be sent home and given a return date and time for the blessed event. At any rate we'll keep everyone posted with blog, email, and phone calls.UNT,........4j's
Three days late and still waiting! I had my membranes swept yesterday, gross I know, and still nothing. Jim and I were told that this works to get things going in 50% of women, but I guess I'm in the half that doesn't. I've eaten spicy food and done some walking, but still waiting!! I have another appointment on Monday with Labor and Delivery if nothing is happened by then and that's when they'll decide whether or not to induce. Jim says this won't be the last time we have to wait around for her, assuming it is a girl like we were told, which is probably the truth. At least he's had practice by waiting around for me! The baby bedding arrived day before yesterday so we've finished the room except for some curtains and a few pictures we ordered that should be in this weekend. She's not even here yet and she has taken over with every room in the house having something of hers. The swing in the living room, high chair in the dining room, stroller and car seat in the hallway, bottles in the kitchen, crib and stuff in her room, Moses basket in our room, bouncy seat in guest room, and rubber ducky in bathroom. I'm sure once she gets here the toys will follow her around the house as well.
With our move and the new arrival we aren't the only ones who've had to adjust. Jemma is doing great in her new home and has even made friends with the neighbor lady who has volunteered to look after Jemma when Jim and I go to the hospital. She has a good sized yard to roam around in and is very protective at the front gate, you never know when a big bad bear may be lurking about so she's always ready with a guarding grrrr for the passers by. I was told to play some recordings of a baby's cry so that she'd get used to the sound, but have not done that as of yet. I guess we'll all have to get used to that lovely sound together. We are planning to bring home some things that Jailee has slept in at the hospital before she actually gets home, this way Jemma can get accustomed to the smell of the baby and be somewhat prepared. Of course with all the new things arriving she's sniffed them out, but is still not too sure about the big scary items like the stroller and swing. You can understand her concern, you never know when they will jump out and grab her!!
Well, all......until next time which will hopefully be a happy announcement of the new arrival. Miss you all.

Last week we had some pictures taken and just got the proofs back so thought we'd share them with you guys. When Jailee arrives we'll take her to the photographer with us at 3mo and have our first family photo. Also, a bit more news,.... we had a false alarm this morning and made a visit to the maternity ward. The contractions started at 3am and Jim woke up at about 5am so he started timing them. After calling L&D they told us to come in. We figured it was a false alarm since we're not due until the 17th, and we were right. After being hooked up to monitors I had only a couple more contractions and was sent home. Jim stayed with me until about 11:30 and then went to work for the rest of the day. I took it easy and Jim has made me promise to wake him the next time so we can start timing earlier. Even though the experience was painful (and I'm sure this was just the tip of the iceburg) it was kind of exciting. Jim kept making me laugh the whole time which didn't ease the pain, but kep my spirits up. We're both nervous and excited and hopefully the next visit will be more prosperous.Until next time,.......some British trivia. Being a "smarty pants" or a little bold can also be described as being "cheeky". Also, Americans seem to say the word "cool" to describe almost everything, the Brits use the word "brilliant" in the same context.4J's
This is the smallest pub in Britain. It holds about 10 customers. The building consists of just the brown section. The pub is located in the town of Bury St. Edmunds. I haven't been able to take part of a cool pint of my favorite ale here yet, I'm waiting for Jackie to join me. We have a great collection of pubs in our little town of Ely which I did get to explore a couple weeks ago with a friend. Unfortunately it was a send off "pub crawl" since he left England last weekend to move to Georgia. It won't be long until Jackie and I can take baby and dog for a walk to one of our local pubs. Yeah there is one that allows dogs, too cool.Baby news: Jackie had a doctor's appointment today and everything is fine. She is dilated to 1cm (it's a start), only 9 more to go.
This is apicture of the London Eye located on the Thames River across from Big Ben. We took this on Christmas Day 2005. I haven't posted anything in a while and I was going through some pictures and thought this was cool. Today Cambridge University and Oxford University had their annual Crew Boat Race on this river. Oxford came in as the defending champ and won it again this year. The race has been going on since 1829 and is just over 4 miles long. Cambridge holds the record for the fasted time at 16 mins 19 secs. Today's race was much longer due to the heavy winds they had to row into.
On another note, baby should be here in a couple weeks (yeah we are getting a little nervous). So far Mum and Baby are doing fine but Dad is freaking out.
